Divisional Clash Heats Up As Marchand And Reaves Exchange Shots
A division rivalry has reached the next level of intensity after a back-and-forth between two notable players. All of this has led to the teams matchup tonight.
Marchand And Reaves Trade Major Shots At One Another
With Ryan Reaves now in Toronto this season the chirping between himself and Bruins captain Brad Marchand has been at an all-time high. The two have a history that has been taken to another level with this rivalry.
Ryan Reaves on Brad Marchand: "He likes telling me he makes a lot more than I do."
Marchand: "I think I said that once a long time ago. Sounds like he's holding on to it."
While Ryan Reaves is not afraid to stick up for himself or his teammates he is wary of the savvy veteran baiting him into unnecessary penalties.
Ryan Reaves on Marchand, says he must be wary of the Boston captain «baiting» him and other Leafs into penalties. Says during their chirps that Marchand like to remind him he makes a lot more money. «That's okay, lots of people do,» laughed Reaves.
The Maple Leafs will be looking for revenge on Brad Marchand after he injured defenseman Timothy Liljegren. Toronto's response to the incident was infamously criticized for weeks.
Maple Leafs And Bruins Renew Their Rivalry
Tonight's game continues the battle for supremacy in the Atlantic Division between the Bruins and Maple Leafs. The starting goaltender matchup has been announced with the Bruins starting Vezina winner Linus Ullmark and Toronto countering with young goalie Joseph Woll.

When asked about the rivalry and intensity that has carried over from their last matchup Sheldon Keefe had this to say.
"Keefe on how the Leafs had a measured response post-Liljegren, playing tougher: "I know everybody here watches just us for the most part. But turn on the TV and there's a lot of teams who don't blow up and sell the farm every time someone gets hit. You have to play hockey, too."
While the Maple Leafs likely won't take intentional revenge on Marchand they will be on guard for more incidents. Tempers feel like they are just bound to flair tonight.
