Sidney Crosby and the Penguins contract extension: Massive development emerges
Sidney Crosby has been the face of the Pittsburgh Penguins for two decades now, and it appears his stay with the team is set to continue for years to come.
Despite the Penguins missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second straight season, captain Sidney Crosby had yet another incredible year,, notching 94 points over an impressive 82 games.
With the recent disappointment as a team, there have been questions raised over Crosby's future, but now, the latest update on the situation has revealed that he is set to extend his stay in Pittsburgh, likely to the end of his amazing career.
The team and player are confident a deal will be agreed upon and formalized soon, the sources said.
That comes from The Athletic's Rob Rossi, and while he was unable to reveal any specific information about the potential deal, it's a great sign for Kyle Dubas that negotiations are moving forward.
Given how important Crosby has been to the Penguins, it's unlikely that anyone could ever see him playing in another uniform, and at 36-years of age, if a new deal is struck, it will likely be the last of his career that sees him go down as a Penguins all-time great.
