As the NHL trade deadline is just a couple of days away an NHL insider has confirmed that the Penguins are in discussion regarding a deal including Sidney Crosby.

Penguins GM Dubas Has An Offer On The Table For Crosby

A new report from insider Frank Seravalli has confirmed the Pittsburgh Penguins' future plans with Sidney Crosby. According to Seravalli, the Penguins have offered Crosby a major extension to finish his career in Pittsburgh.

"I think they've already talked extension... it's going to be one of those deals that gets signed within the first few minutes of July 1."

It sounds as though Crosby will be signing his extension the moment he is eligible to in the last year of his contract. Many expect Crosby to take a potential pay cut in total dollars on his next contract. Currently in this metric Crosby is the highest paid player in the league.

Before the Penguins can address Crosby's future and sign him to an extension they need to solve the future of Jake Guentzel.

Despite the impending loss of Guentzel Penguins fans can take some solace in the fact that Crosby will be around for years to come. Once more information and numbers are provided about Sidney Crosby's next contract we will pass them along to you.
