In a recent interview, Penguins Head Coach Mike Sullivan revealed some major changes he was hoping to implement with his forward group.

Mike Sullivan Hopes to Make Major Change to Forward Group

Mike Sullivan recognizes that his year last season didn't live up to expectations. In a recent interview, he revealed that he was hoping to make some changes to improve the forward group for this upcoming year. However, it wasn't met entirely with open arms.

"I think all the wings should play their off sides," admitted a candid Sullivan. "The way defensemen pinch the walls and when you think about it... on a breakout you can come down to that puck on your forehand if you're playing the off side as opposed to your backhand, it makes that next play a lot easier in my mind."

Some players weren't open to the idea of playing their off wings, and let Sullivan know that this was outside of their comfort zones.

"We're trying to convince our guys to go to their off sides but not everybody likes that," admitted Sullivan. "We also try to put out players in their comfort zone so that we can set them up for success."

Sullivan Hoping to Improve under New GM Kyle Dubas

Sullivan has been open with the media that he needs to do a better job of making sure his players are improving throughout the season. This includes holding them accountable.

«There's a number of areas where we have to do a better job as a coaching staff,» Sullivan said. «In coaching our players to be better in certain situations. And also holding out players accountable.»
