Earlier today, the Pittsburgh Penguins made a surprising roster move.
Penguins Place Friedman on Waivers
As reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Pittsburgh Penguins have placed Mark Friedman on waivers.
-
This season, Friedman played in 23 NHL games and tallied three points (one goal and two assists) and 15 penalty minutes. He also has a +2 goal differential.
In early 2021, Ron Hextall made his first move as the Penguins' GM when he acquired the 27-year-old off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.
Friedman has cleared waivers three times this season; in October and in February at the trade deadline.
The Penguins made this move because defenseman Marcus Pettersson is expected to be activated from long-term injured reserve (LTIR) ahead of the team's regular-season finale against Columbus on Thursday night.
We'll know by tomorrow afternoon if he clears waivers.
Do you think Friedman will clear waivers?
