The Ottawa Senators are in desperation mode as they try to claw their way into a wildcard spot before the season's end. A huge victory against the Flyers in overtime would do a lot to help their odds, but that win wasn't the main focus of attention after last night's game.

Scary Scene as Brassard Falls Awkwardly

Senators forward Derrick Brassard is known for his intensity on the ice, and as he drove the Flyers net late in the second period, that intensity caused him some problems. Brassard's leg got twisted at an unnatural angle, causing him to fall and twist it further. These types of injuries are scary and can leave players with serious long term damage.
Not much is known about the injury right now, but Brassard will likely be gone for an extended period of time. Senators head coach DJ Smith said an update on Brassard's status will be provided tomorrow.
Injuries like this are always tough to see, and we're hoping for a speedy recovery for Brassard.
