New York Rangers Confirm Jacob Trouba's Trade Fate in Latest Report, Per Elliotte Friedman
The developing saga of the Jacob Trouba trade and waiver speculation has come to its conclusion as the Rangers' captain was not placed on waivers Friday.
According to reports, several teams are interested and the deadline for a decision was 2pm ET.
Well that time has passed and the verdict is in: Jacob Trouba is not on waivers and as of now, no trade is going to happen as of yet
per Elliotte FriedmanIt was a wild turn of events for the Rangers captain as the team tries to navigate through a rough patch and changes are needed. GM Chris Drury is unhappy with how his team has played, and some names that have popped up recently include
Chris Kreider and Kappo Kaako among others.
There were originally four teams interested in potentially acquiring
Trouba but so far nothing has come out about any potential deals for the polarizing defenseman.
According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, the Rangers eschewed putting him on waivers because they feel they can get a deal done.
There's no doubt that Trouba can come in and make an impact for these teams, and he's the perfect veteran to throw in the lineup for the younger players to learn from. Still able to contribute offensively too doesn't hurt, even though he's had a little slower year in 2024.
For his career he has 315 points in 772 games and had a career-best 50 point outburst in 2018-19 for the Winnipeg Jets, the team who drafted him 9th overall in 2012.
He does come with a bit of controversy though, as he's been suspended and fined numerous times in his career and has a propensity to throw less than ideal hits to the opponents.
We will keep you updated on any Jacob Trouba news and developments as soon as we are informed!
