It was found out today that former NHL tough guy, Chris Simon has passed away. Simon was a former Stanley Cup champion back in 1996 with the Colorado Avalanche.
Simon would end up playing 12 seasons in the NHL with various different teams during his time in the NHL, solidifying himself as a 20-30 point player and averaging over 100+ penalty minutes in a season.
His best year came in 1999-00 season with the Washington Capitals where Simon put up 29 goals and 49 total points in 75 games. He would finish his professional NHL playing career in 2007-08 with the Minnesota Wild.
I regret to inform you that NHL alumnus Chris Simon has passed away at the age of 52.
Simon played 782 games in the NHL from 1993-2008 with Quebec, Colorado, Washington, Chicago, New York (R), New York (I), Calgary, and Minnesota, registering 144 goals and 305 points in that span.
He was a one-time Stanley Cup Champion (1996).
During his Stanley Cup run with the Avalanche Simon would play 12 games only collecting one goal and two assists.
He started his career in 1992-93 season with the Quebec Nordiques only playing 16 games in that season and 37 the following year. He would get pumped into a full role in 1995-96 playing 64 games and having 34 pointss.
Simon then played the next 7 seasons with the Washington Capitals playing the best hockey of his career there. Then at the tail end of his career played with the Blackhawks for a season and the Rangers for a season.
He would play two season in both Calgary and with the Islanders before finishing with the Wild.
