A crazy play during the Wild versus Ducks game last night resulted in Marc-Andre Fleury getting a penalty, and that had fans confused as he didn't do anything wrong.

Marc-Andre Fleury Given Controversial Penalty During Game Against the Anaheim Ducks Last Night

Marc-Andre Fleury isn't one to take many penalties, as is the case for most goaltenders in the NHL these days. However, that wasn't the case last night, as Fleury was penalized for a play that wasn't his fault at all. As the Wild began to break the puck out of their zone, the Ducks' Frank Vatrano skated past Fleury, clipping his face on Fleury's butt-end. It was clearly an accident, as Fleury wasn't even looking at what was happening.

Fleury was given a penalty for the play, though, which has left some fans confused as to what Fleury was supposed to do to avoid the contact.

"Not sure how Fleury is supposed to avoid Frank Vatrano skating face-first into his stick?" SpokedZ on X said.

Fleury Records Shuout As Well as Penalty During Game Against the Ducks

Fleury was able to leave his mark on more than just Vatrano's face, as he recorded a shutout against the Ducks and continued his hot streak, winning 5 of his last 6 starts. While the Wild's season may be slipping away from them, Fleury has been one of the reasons they have remained competitive.

With a win tonight, Marc-Andre Fleury is now 9-2-0 in his last 12 games with a 1.94 GAA, a .926 SV% and one shutout. Fleury has now won in four consecutive starts.
