Just when you think you've heard it all when it comes to strange hockey player superstitions and/or rituals, something entirely new gets revealed. Ahead of his team's possible elimination game against the Boston Bruins tonight, Florida Panthers head coach discussed one that, while practical, might be a little cringy as well.

Maurice has close to 1800 regular season NHL games under his belt as head coach. He got his start with the Hartford Whalers, which should give you an idea of how long he's been giving orders behind the bench. Asked what strange player rituals he's encountered over the years, Maurice detailed a one he walked in on that involved a commitment to moisture-free skin heading into overtime.

"You walk in and your whole team's naked because they're taking off their underwear and putting on dry underwear," said Maurice. "Like, that's kind of strange."

I can't help but agreement with his assessment, although I think we can all safely agree dry underwear is a positive in most cases.
