This summer the Edmonton Oilers were hoping to reload to take a run at another Stanley Cup Finals appearance. Unfortunately, their offseason plans were thrown off due to offer sheets made to Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway.
After losing out on both of these young players the Edmonton Oilers have been looking to replace the depth on their roster. It began with the team trading for Vasily Podkolzin and Ty Emberson.
Now the Edmonton Oilers are looking to make a bigger upgrade that could play significant minutes on defense. A new report from an NHL insider has connected the Oilers to Chicago Blackhawks veteran Seth Jones.
A new post from Greg Wyshynski this afternoon has revealed that the Edmonton Oilers are still shopping for a big addition to their roster. According to his sources, the Oilers could be looking to acquire Seth Jones from the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks are looking to make their way back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs with their new young core. Seth Jones is slated to be one of the most impactful veterans on the roster. He brings a consistent presence and in each of the last 5 seasons has been near or above the 30-point mark. At his best Seth Jones posted 51 points in 78 games during the 2021-22 season.
If the Chicago Blackhawks were willing to part with Seth Jones the Edmonton Oilers have the pieces to land him. The Edmonton Oilers need to continue capitalizing on the prime years of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. If a Seth Jones trade is on the table it is something they need to try and get done aggresively.
As more reports come out regarding this developing situation we will pass them along to you.
