The Edmonton Oilers have had a wild offseason after making their way to the Stanley Cup Finals. It began with the stepping down of former GM Ken Holland. Then the Edmonton Oilers traded away third-line center Ryan McLeod.
Eventually, a new GM would be hired former Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman. He would go on to trade away defenseman Cody Ceci. Then the Oilers would lose Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway to offer sheets from the St. Louis Blues.
After all of these losses to depth, the Edmonton Oilers are in need of reinforcements to keep their Stanley Cup hopes alive. A report today from NHL insider Frank Seravalli has confirmed that the Oilers are hoping to add that depth before the season begins.
In a new segment on Oilers Now hosted by Bob Stauffer NHL insider Frank Seravalli spoke about the Edmonton Oilers. According to his sources, the Oilers could be looking to make a major addition before the start of the 2024-25 season.
With this information in mind, the Edmonton Oilers will be one of the biggest teams to focus on as the NHL offseason comes to a close. If the Oilers are truly looking to get back to Stanley Cup Final favorites they will need to add significant depth either up front or especially on defense.
As this situation continues to develop we will pass the information along to you.
