Nichushkin finds way to pursue his hockey career during his 6-month suspension
Valeri Nichushkin, who was suspensed six months by the NHL for failing a substance test, found a way to pursue his hockey career during his time away from North America.
A new report posted on X announced that Nichushkin will play this summer in the Media Hockey League in Russia. He'll play with other NHLers and Russian celebrities between July 6 and August 31:
"Colorado Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin will participate in the second season of the Hockey Media League. This was announced to TASS by Nikolai Osipov, President of the Media League, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
"The second season of the league will start on July 6 and will end on August 31," said Osipov. "The matches will take place in Moscow, but we plan to hold some games in other regions. Among NHL players, it is certain that Valeri Nichushkin will play."
The Avs forward should be able to come back in the NHL next November, if he clears the third phase of the Player Assistance Program.
Chris MacFarland revealed that the player will need to rebuild the trust he broke during the playoffs, but should be welcomed back to the team:
"MacFarland said it's going to be up to Nichushkin to rebuild trust with the organization.
"We've looked at all options, like we always do, and the obvious question is termination, right? And that's not an option."
"It is very plausible he'll be back with the Avalanche"
