In breaking news, it has been determined that the Chicago Blackhawks will be forced to pay out the majority of Corey Perry's contract after they terminated him earlier this year.

Blackhawks to Pay 3 Million Dollars to Corey Perry After Terminating Contract

The Chicago Blackhawks have kept the details of what occurred with Corey Perry quiet, and that will likely continue to be the case. Despite that, however, it has been determined that Corey Perry will be paid the majority of the contract that he signed with the Blackhawks, as they will be forced to pay him 3 out of the 4 million dollars that he is owed.

Our understanding of Perry termination/grievance resolution is #Blackhawks were assessed $1.99M Cap Charge for period after termination.

On top of the $1.02M cap charge while with team, CHI total cap charge will be $3.01M of Perry's original $4M contract

Perry was terminated by the Blackhawks earlier this season, however, both parties have kept the details to themselves on the reason why he was terminated. When Gary Bettman gave the green light for Perry to return to the NHL, and the Oilers signed him to a deal, many speculated further on why the Blackhawks terminated him.

Without the details, it is nearly impossible to pass judgment on the Blackhawks, and it is likely the case that we will never know the details of the event, as this is likely behind both Perry and the Blackhawks now.
