Canadian World Junior Player Signs A New NHL Contract

Tonight the Carolina Hurricanes announced a major move. They have signed forward Maxime Comtois to a one-year two-way deal.

#Canes have signed free agent forward Max Comtois to a one-year, two-way contract. $775K NHL / $250K AHL. #CauseChaos

Comtois who was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the second round has had a turbulent career. Early on in his NHL career he showed immense promise and looked to be a key part of the Ducks' future. Lack of consistency and injuries eventually led to his departure from the team.

Now Comtois, who was not implicated in the World Juniors scandal, will get a fresh start in Carolina where he will look to rebuild his NHL career. He will likely report to the AHL where he will get his first looks at game action.
