NHL training camps are almost underway, and things in Boston seem to be going well. Veterans are gathering to skate together, while rookies are already facing other teams as part of the rookie camp.
Unfortunately, something could get in the way of a peaceful camp, as superstar goalie Jeremy Swayman has yet to sign a contract with the Bruins.
Indeed, Bruins insider Fluto Shinzawa revealed that he wouldn't be surprised if Swayman were to miss the camp.
There is reportedly a big discrepancy between what the goaltender wants and what the organization offered him. Swayman knows his value and has a lot of confidence, meaning that he likely won't budge.
Check out what the insider said on Bruins Rinkside:
When players don't take part in training camps, they can sometimes struggle to find their rhythm at the start of the season. Even if they train and get ready on their own, it's never as good as training with the team.
In the end, it'll be a distraction for the players, and it could affect the long-term relationship between Swayman and the Bruins, but the goalie will be the one to suffer the consequences.
As for the organization, they can rely on Joonas Korpisalo for the start of the season while the negotiations continue.
