It seems the contract negotiations between the Boston Bruins and goalie Jeremy Swayman aren't going too well. Yesterday, during a press conference, the Bruins' President Cam Neely made a pretty obvious statement, which basically confirmed that they offered him a $64 million contract.
This wasn't received well by Swayman's camp, leaving no choice but to his agent Lewis Gross but to make a public statement
saying this was the first time they heard that number in the negotiations:
Frank Seravalli also shared his take on the situation and added interesting details.
He said that the Bruins offered him an 8x$7.8M ($62.4 million) contract and that Swayman and his camp have been asking for $8.5M AAV ($68 million).

At this point, what matters for the team is to get their number one goaltender to sign in time for the season opener. As for Swayman, he looks like a guy who's thinking about his wallet instead of the team's success.
Management made a mistake by making that statement in yesterday's press conference, and now Swayman is in a better position to get what he wants.
