The NHL has now announced that Cronin is getting fined $25,000 for these actions.

It is clear that they want to protect their referees so Cronin's fine was decently heavy. While it will not deter future coaches from berating officials, it establishes grounds that this type of punishment will be handed out.
While the call was clearly atrocious from the referees, Cronin or any other head coach cannot have an outburst like this.
