Breaking news reports are coming in that Bruce Boudreau has been hired by a new team to be their head coach.

Boudreau To Niagara

According to new reports Bruce Boudreau has been hired by the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League.

The OHL is one of the best development leagues in the world that produces some of the NHL's biggest stars. Now Boudreau will have a chance to develop those stars and show he can still coach at a high level. He will also join his son who is a current assistant coach for the IceDogs. Here is what Boudreau had to say about joining Niagara.

«I am very proud, happy and excited to help the Niagara IceDogs in any way I can. The Niagara area will always have a special place in heart. I look forward to one day celebrating a Memorial Cup with the Niagara IceDogs.» stated Boudreau.

Boudreau in his NHL career has coached in 1,087 games and has a record of 50-40-13. If Boudreau does well and can help the Niagara IceDogs compete for an OHL championship we could likely see him return to the NHL someday.

Either way, it is great to see Bruce Boudreau behind a bench again. He is by all accounts a wonderful person and a great influence on players. It will be interesting to see if his coaching style translates to junior hockey.
