Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Simon Benoit has made a home for himself on the Leafs blueline this year and it seems like the fit may work out longer than expected.
Benoit Wants To Stay A Leaf Long Term
The Toronto spotlight may not be what every player in the NHL wants but sometimes a player can fall in love with it. That is exactly what happened for defenseman Simon Benoit as he has made it clear he wants to remain a Leaf.
Sportsnet's Luke Fox reports the following quote from Benoit:
"I would love to re-sign. But I don't like to think about it. I just think about my game tonight." - Simon Benoit
With Benoit exceeding expectations this year, it may just work out for the two parties if the dollar amount is palpable for the Leafs.
The ball is now in Brad Treliving's court and he will make the final decision on if the Leafs want to keep Benoit or not.
