With the NHL's Unrestricted Free Agency fast approaching, a major team in the Western Conference seems ready to take a run at Tristan Jarry, goaltender for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The LA Kings gave up a lot to pick up goaltender Joonas Korpisalo and defenceman Vladislav Gavrikov from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Gavrikov has since signed in extension with LA, but things are nearly as clear for Korpisalo. There have been rumours of an impasse on an extension between the Kings and Korpisalo's agent, while some have suggested LA may not even make an offer. That could be where Jarry comes in.
One major thing for the Kings would be the need to move money out in order to bring Jarry in. Jarry is coming off a contract that had a $3.5 million cap hit, and will almost certainly be seeking a raise. The Kings currently have around $7.3 million in cap space, but there are still extensions to be signed.
