Vezina-Winning Goalie Could Be on the Move to Pittsburgh

The Boston Bruins appear to be heading for a big transition next season.

With the future of both Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci's NHL careers up in the air, and with Taylor Hall traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, the Bruins are heading for an uncertain summer with only just under $11 million in cap space after the Hall trade.

Another casualty may end up being Linus Ullmark, who just took home the Vezina Trophy at the NHL Awards. Costing $5 million per season against the cap, he may end up being moved if Bruins management decides Jeremy Swayman is their long-term #1.

Ullmark's name has already been linked to the Pittsburgh Penguins, according to Pittsburgh sports journalist Andrew Fillipponi.

The Return for Ulmark

We don't yet know what sort of return a possible Ullmark trade could generate, but it's clear that his value has reached a new high even despite his substandard performances in this year's playoffs, where the Bruins gobsmackingly crashed out in the first round against eventual finalists the Florida Panthers in seven games.
