Trade Talks are Heating Up Between Vancouver and Pittsburgh Concerning Brock Boeser

Tensions are high in Vancouver, and his $6.65-million cap-hit is too high to fit with the teams' structure.

Unfortunately, a trade won't get Vancouver much in the way of assets, as he is essentially a cap-dump.

Pittsburgh has now emerged as a potential candidate in these sweepstakes. The package going back to Vancouver includes fabled young player Kasperi Kapanen as the main piece.

Kapanen showed signs of stardom in Toronto but has struggled in Pittsburgh. His $3.2-million cap-hit would facilitate a trade.

The other piece would be one of Ty Smith or Pierre-Olivier Joseph.

Vancouver would bring in new young talent on cheaper deals, and Pittsburgh would have a shiny new toy that could potentially thrive with a centerman like Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin.

It will be an interesting story to follow.
