The Leafs Select Easton Cowan

It's finally confirmed, with his first pick as the Maple Leafs General Manager, Brad Treliving selected Easton Cowan at the 28th overall rank.

A native of Mount Brydges in Ontario, he spent the last seasons in the OHL with the London Knights. He played an important role all season, scoring 53 points in 68 games. The 5'10" centerman is just 18 years old. Leafs fans will need to be patient.

During his press conference following his selection, he mentioned something interesting.

Leafs Player Contacts Cowan

The young man revealed that an important player in the Leafs organization contacted him.

As reported by David Alter,

"Easton Cowan said Mitch Marner FaceTimed him immediately after being drafted.

Both products of the London Knights."

Some players like to go to the event in person to meet the prospects, but instead, Marner called him.

This is a nice gesture from Marner, who will likely get to know Cowan in the coming months.
