Zegras still cant believe how he scored that IMPOSSIBLE goal
Zegras' talent has been well known since he was taken ninth overall in 2019. It was on full display against the Sabres. In the second period, the 20-year-old snatched the puck behind the net. Sonny Milano scored his team's first goal by batting the puck in from mid-air. A special goal deserved a special reaction from Zegras, who still seemed stunned when chatting with the reporters postgame.
«I still can't believe it worked,» Zegras told reporters. «I've tried it a couple times and haven't even come close.
«For him to whack it out of the air and keep it under the crossbar, it's pretty incredible.
While it was a fantastic effort, some old-school hockey fans may not have appreciated Zegras' dangerous and flashy move. Thankfully, Dallas Eakins is not one of those coaches.
«It's who he is,» Eakins said. «He's highly creative. He believes he can do anything with the puck. You're seeing it right across hockey. We're seeing these plays from behind the net because they can do it. The generation when I played, there wasn't a chance any of us could do it.»
«I think it's great for the sport. We're in the entertainment business. That was a really special goal.»
