In the eyes of journalist Marc De Foy of the Journal de Montréal, it seems obvious that the players have abandoned Ducharme.
"The images you see during the games don't lie. It's obvious! This team does not want to play for Dominique Ducharme. His players don't respect him. They have abandoned him. You can see it. The players wanted nothing to do with Michel Therrien the two times he was fired by the Habs. The second time, in 2017, Carey Price had signed his death warrant by declaring after a setback in Boston that the team had lost its identity."

The journalist also believes that Petry's statement could also be what others of his teammates are thinking down in the team's locker room.
"In delivering his thoughts after Tuesday night's game in Pittsburgh, Petry likely expressed the opinions of some players in the room. They say he would have been better off keeping his mouth shut with the season he's having. That's not wrong, but it doesn't change the picture. The Habs are awful! They're on track to have the worst season in their history."
