Stanley Cup runs come with a lot of emotions, lot of heartbreak, optimism and maybe some pessimism as well? Stanley Cup hangovers are real and if the Habs don't have these two attributes to their team this season, they might just be another statistic to fall under the infamous Stanley Cup hangover.
Attribute #1: Embrace The New Faces and Internal Competition.
New players coming in to the lineup like Mike Hoffman, Christian Dvorak, David Savard, Matthieu Perrault, Chris Wideman, and Cedric Paquette. Will bring some healthy competition and skill to an already talented squad. With all the new guys, lineups will be changed throughout the season. The coaching staff will need to make the right decisions when it comes to who is jelling correctly, playing well, and what changes need to be done. This could go really well or really bad. Time will tell, which brings us to Attribute #2.
Attribute #2: Ducharme's Communication Will Be Key.
Ducharme will need to continue his strong coaching for the Habs that got him his three year contract extension this off-season. Most of his decisions have panned out so far, for the new guys coming in. His communication will be a huge key to this team success, that mainly being his decisiveness about his roster and system. I expect him to communicate this and how each player fits into the team scheme very early this preseason. Earlier the better.
Patience and assertiveness will need to be balanced. It will take time but Habs fans need not to worry with Ducharme at the helm.
