Following comments made by the Russian forward after eliminating the Canadiens and capturing the Stanley Cup for the second consecutive season in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final, the relationship between Nikita Kucherov and Montreal Canadiens supporters has reached an all-time low. Kucherov made fun of fans after winning Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, and it's become evident that Kucherov will be Montreal's public enemy number one for a long time.
The behaviour of NHL player agent Dan Milstein, who represents Nikita Kucherov in negotiations, has done a superb job of fueling the flames of animosity among Canadiens fans. Since his client came under pressure after winning the Cup, Milstein has been mercilessly abusing Canadiens supporters, and to say he has shown no mercy would be an understatement.
Milstein kept things simple on Thursday, sharing a photo of a smiling Kucherov carrying the Stanley Cup against a lovely backdrop.
One of the most persistent areas of criticism levelled at Kucherov and the Lightning has been what many perceive to be a circumvention of the salary cap, but rather than running away from the accusations, Milstein has thrown it straight back at those who accuse the Lightning of cheating. During the team's Stanley Cup parade in Tampa Bay, Milstein quipped that they would be wearing jerseys dedicated to the salary cap.
