The Canadiens defeated 5-2 by the Pittsburgh Penguins last night, dropping to 6-21-3. Wow.

Whatever the reason, Montreal is clearly broken. They appear to be a team weak in leadership. Shea Weber has retired, Carey Price is unlikely to play before the New Year, Philip Danault separated when free agency started, and Corey Perry joined the Tampa Bay Lightning. Who's left to steer the ship? Even though I admire Brendan Gallagher and Jeff Petry, the NHL needs a stronger leadership group.

Oh, and a competent head coach.

Like in last year's Cup Final, Dominque Ducharme has been completely outmatched this season. He also blamed his coach for not adequately preparing his time. Check out Petry's scathing post-game comments following tonight's loss:

«It's the same things, over and over. We're not playing as a team, we're not playing as a group. It's like you're searching to find where people are. It seems like there's no structure out there.»

- Jeff Petry

I don't blame you Petry! There has to be some changes ASAP.
