The Toronto Maple Leafs have already added a slew of bottom-six players but could stand to add one more, that being the towering Brett Leason who is still a free agent halfway into July.

With Maple Leafs figuring out what they need to do in order to add some extra punch to their lineup, they've mainly focused on adding not only depth, but some intense physicality and toughness.
Though the team could still use a scorer, there can never be enough insurance, especially for some of the bottom-six guys who might end up coming out a little more bruised than most.

Brett Leason a depth chart dream

Which is why Brad Treliving needs to look at the remaining free agents and pick out Brett Leason to bring aboard, not only because he's cheap but also looks exactly like a Craig Berube type player.
Standing 6'5, Leason can give the Leafs a massive boost coming into the lineup, much more than a Ryan Reaves ever could. Not only is he huge, but he has a soft scoring touch as well.
For a guy that big he's able to cover a lot of ground quickly, and although he isn't as physical as perhaps Craig Berube would want him to be; he's not a regular.
Leason, 26, spent the last three seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, and has put in a decent amount of offense in his time in California.
In 184 games he has 48 points (22 goals, 26 assists) adding 127 blocks and 179 hits in that span.

Toronto's adding insurance policies all summer long

With the additions of Dakota Joshua and Michael Pezzetta this off-season, it's obvious the team is trying to add as much toughness and physicality to their bottom six.
And they've added a slew of AHL signings that will give Berube even more depth and insurance with some pretty interesting names to boot.
But they lack any true offensive punch with their depth, and Leason would be able to come in and be a reliable contributor in case of injuries or if Berube needs some extra scoring.
Plus he wouldn't cost more than $1-million or so, and the team has the space. Or even if they felt like they wanted a look without a commitment they might be privy to sign him to a PTO and try him out in the preseason.
We saw Steven Lorentz play his way into the Maple Leafs and Leason could do the same.
They may just join up together too, and along with Scott Laughton make the Triple L line; one that can lead to a lot of W's.
