Brad Treliving's tenure as the GM of the Calgary Flames ended this season after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign. While many would take some time off to be with their family and reassess their future, Treliving has wasted no time searching for his next job. His name has consistently been in talks for the Toronto GM job, and according to a new report, he may be the favorite.
It would make sense for Toronto, seeing as Treliving meets their requirements of having experience in an NHL front office, and has been in the NHL for a long time. He's not afraid to make big trades and could be the best guy to handle big contracts like Matthews and Marner.
While it seems like Treliving is the clear-cut favorite to land the GM job in Toronto, Shanahan has interviewed other GMs for the role. Some notable former GMs such as former Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin and former Edmonton GM Peter Chiarelli have been all but confirmed to have interviewed with Shanahan for the position, so don't count anyone out just yet.
Each candidate brings loads of experience to the table, and Toronto will be getting a seasoned veteran in the world of GMs. We're not sure what the timeframe will look like for an official announcement, but we'll have all the latest news as soon as updates are available, so stay tuned for more.
