This NHL insider just revealed information on John Klingberg's injury status and his future with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the NHL.

John Klingberg Can Barely Walk According to NHL Insider

John Klingberg was one of the Leafs' more exciting signings this offseason, as a puck-moving and scoring defenseman. However, his year didn't start as many had hoped, as he struggled significantly, sparking speculation about his abilities.

"I don't feel like I'm moving my feet well. There's stuff to work on for sure."

However, as the season has progressed, it has been revealed that Klingberg is dealing with a nagging hip injury. He missed games due to the injury right at the height of being scrutinized for his play, raising questions about the timing.

Now, NHL insider Mike Johnson has revealed that Klingberg's injury could keep him out for the rest of the season.

Timing Raises Questions About Leafs Intention to Place on LTIR

The Leafs are infamous for placing struggling players on LTIR, coining the phrase Robidas Island after they conveniently placed Stéphane Robidas on LTIR to tank for Auston Matthews.

The Klingberg injury is begging the same questions. How did the Leafs not know about his nagging hip injuries when they signed him this offseason?

This whole Klingberg thing is so odd. On one hand, a chronic career-derailing injury that's nagged him for years is a lightbulb-level explanation for his drop-off. Explains everything.

OTOH, how did Toronto either not know about it, or think they'd somehow be the exception?

The Leafs clearly need help on the blueline, and having Klingberg on LTIR would help make that happen. Whether it is justified, though, is another question.
