Four Toronto Maple Leafs Likely to Depart Before the Trade Deadline

The Toronto Maple Leafs seem to be poised to make trades ahead of the deadline. Many hockey fans expect that GM Brad Treliving will be active on the trade market in order to bolster his lineup before the playoffs.

According to a new report, four players currently in Toronto could be gone before March 8th.

Two Defensemen Out of Toronto Before the Trade Deadline?

It was suggested that both T.J. Brodie and Conor Timmins could be traded in the coming weeks.

Timmins, who had a great training camp before an injury forced him to miss several weeks, never found his rhythm in 14 games this season. Timmins got healthy-scratched many times recently and unless there are injuries, we shouldn't see him back in the lineup so soon.

As for Brodie, he'll be a free agent after the current season and it would be surprising to see him stay in Toronto. If the Leafs don't want to see him walk away on July 1st, they'll trade him before the deadline.

Treliving to Trade Two Veterans Who Lost Their Touch?

There's some dead weight in Toronto. Brad Treliving should have for mission to trade players who bring nothing to the team. Both Ilya Samsonov and Ryan Reaves haven't been playing well this season and many Leafs fans hope to see them leave soon.

However, their underwhelming performances won't facilitate a deal being made. It's hard to imagine any NHL team pushing for Reaves or Samsonov. It's even harder to imagine them playing well and actually make a difference for the team.

Whatever happens, we hope that Treliving will make smart moves to help the team win now without sacrificing the organization's future.
