Former Maple Leaf to Retire at Just 27

Playing professional hockey is a long and winding road for everyone who pursues it. For one player in particular his journey did not go exactly according to plan but took him all over the world for almost a decade playing the game he loves.

Josh Ho-Sang former Toronto Maple Leaf and Toronto Marlie is reportedly strongly considering retirement.

Ho-Sang's NHL Journey

Ho-Sang was drafted in the first round of the NHL Draft in 2014 by the New York Islanders. He spent six years in the Islanders organization where there were often stories and rumors of attitude issues with Ho-Sang. Many considered Ho-Sang to be a bust after failing to find a consistent spot in the Islanders lineup. He would then head overseas to play in Sweden for the 2020-21 season.

Ho-Sang Parlays Second North American Chance Into Olympic Appearance

After a stint in Sweden Ho-Sang signed a contract with Toronto. Ho-Sang only spent one year in the Leafs organization where he played 47 games and had 35 points with their AHL affiliate the Toronto Marlies. He used this strong performance to be noticed by Hockey Canada.

While representing his country at the Beijing Olympics he scored 3 points in 5 games. After his good play in Beijing, many were excited to see how he would finish the season in Toronto. Unfortunately, injuries affected the rest of Ho-Sang's season with the Leafs.

Ho-Sang most recently played one game last season for Salavat Yulaev of the KHL. There are now reports from the staff at Salavat Yulaev that they expect Ho-Sang to retire before next season
