For many Leaf fans a quick trip to Buffalo to watch a Leaf - Sabres game was a seasonal thing however this may be put to an end for the upcoming season.

Sabres to Stop Leaf Fans Away

The Buffalo Sabres are trying to keep Leafs fans away from their home games, by shutting anyone out of state to the back of the line for single-game tickets this coming season.

This comes after many of the players complained about lack of home fan support for their games especially when they played the Leafs.

«Obviously last year, there were a handful of games where we saw the wrong color blue or the wrong color red coming into the building, depending on the jersey we were wearing,»

Frank Batres-Landaeta, the team's vice president of sales and service, told The Buffalo News

«We want to make sure that we're providing that home-ice advantage to our players,»

The out numbering of away fans at a Key Banks Arena became too much for Sabres players after Ryan O'Reilly scored a hat trick against the team and hats came pouring onto the ice.

Leaf Fans Reactions

Leafs fans have not taken the news well with Leafs Nation author and podcaster Mike Wilson saying this:

«The Buffalo Sabres are going to try to do this? Good luck to them, It's not going to keep Leaf fans away; it never will. You just can't keep them away. It won't stop them at all.»

Even Buffalo-based owner of ticket VIP Tix saying this is not going to work the way the Sabres want it to.

"It's not going to work, season-ticket holders are used to selling their tickets to fans from southern Ontario. It's a big payday. It ends up helping them pay their season-ticket bill to the Sabres.
