BREAKING: Massive Update For William Nylander In Toronto

The Toronto Maple Leafs' offseason has been all about the direction of the team heading forward. Many were wondering if new general manager Brad Treliving would break up the core or build upon it.

Building With The Core

Taking into consideration Treliving's additions so far he looks to be building with the current core. This means that both Auston Matthews and William Nylander will need new contracts. Both are heading into the final years of their respective deals.


As of now, reports indicated that Matthews was much closer than Nylander to a potential agreement. However, according to new reports things seem to be making progress on the Nylander front now.

Nylander Negotiations

Initially, reports said that Nylander was looking to make around 10 million dollars per year for eight years. The Leafs were hoping to bring the cap hit to between 8 and 9 million dollars. This has led to a supposed stalemate for months now.

According to new reports by The Leafs Nation the two sides seem to be making progress towards a middle ground and a possible extension.

The reports do not mention who may have budged but this could be a good sign for the Leafs and their fans. Two of the cornerstone players seem to be nearing extensions to keep them in Toronto.
