Kris Letang Reveals His Thoughts On Erik Karlsson Coming To Pittsburgh
The Erik Karlsson saga finally came to an end with him being traded to Pittsburgh. Since then we have heard many different voices chime in on their opinion of the trade and Karlsson as a player. Today we got to add Kris Letang to this list of players who are excited to see Karlsson in a Penguins uniform.
Letang Approves of Karlsson Trade
In a recent interview for the Post-Gazette in Pittsburgh, Letang gave a glowing review of the Erik Karlsson trade. Letang says that every coach wants an Erik Karlsson, a Sidney Crosby, and an Evgeni Malkin on their team. He then talks about the excitement of having all of those players on one team and the possibilities for the top power-play unit.
Trust me, every coach in the NHL wants an Erik Karlsson. Every coach in the NHL wants Crosby and Malkin on the powerplay. Now imagine if you have all of them
These comments are reassuring to Penguins fans who were unsure how Letang would feel about the Pens adding another top-scoring defenseman.
How Will Karlsson And Letang Co-Exist?
Both Erik Karlsson and Kris Letang are used to being the top guy on their team's blueline. Now they will be playing together and will have to find a way to make it work. From Letang's comments, it sounds as though he is okay with deferring to Karlsson when it comes to things like Powerplay minutes.
If the Penguins can get this core to gel properly they could be in for a deep playoff run.
