Edmonton air traffic control tries to stop the Florida Panthers from landing
Yesterday, in Edmonton, air traffic control tried to stop the Florida Panthers from landing after their flight was delayed due to a severe storm.
The Panthers were supposed to leave Florida at 1 pm, but a rainstorm forced them to delay their flight and they ended up leaving around 4:30 pm:
The Florida Panthers made it to Edmonton despite great efforts from Canadian air traffic control after massive flight delays
On their way to Edmonton, Canadian air traffic controllers joked with the Panthers' pilots that they wouldn't be able to land in Edmonton.
Hear their funny conversation in the video below:
"NEW: Florida Panthers pilots were jokingly told by a Canadian air traffic controller to run low on fuel so the team wouldn't be able to land in Edmonton.
Pilots from other flights joined in on the conversation."
The Florida Panthers' next plane ride could be a lot smoother as they could be having the Stanley Cup on board.
With the next two games of the series being held in Edmonton, and the Panthers being only two victories away from winning the Stanley Cup, the Panthers' next plane ride could be the best they have had.
However, it won't be easy to beat the Oilers in front of their fans for two straight games. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who only have a combined tally of one assist in two games, will do all they can to add their names to the scoresheet and have an impact on their team.
Also, the Oilers had the last two days to rest at home, while the Panthers just went through a tough time leaving Florida, which could influence their performances.
Nonetheless, if a team can pull this off, it's the Panthers. They're so close to their goal and have all it takes to make sure they come back home with the Cup.
If the Panthers win tonight, it could all be over by Saturday.
