BREAKING: Blackhawks GM finally breaks his silence on the Corey Perry Situation
Corey Perry's Controversial Contract Termination
The Chicago Blackhawks made headlines a few weeks ago for an incident involving Corey Perry, which led to his contract being terminated.
He got drunk at a team event, which didn't correspond to the team's code.
After keeping the doors closed on this frustrating event, the Hawks' General Manager, Kyle Davidson, opened up about the situation.
Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson Opens Up on the Perry Incident
Davidson decided to terminate the veteran's contract instead of facing another controversy in the future.
"(On the Corey Perry incident) We handled it and we got through it, but I'm happy it's in the past."
However, it may not be in the past just yet. The NHLPA still has the option to appeal the team's decision. In the coming weeks, we should know the real ending to that issue.
The Ups and Downs of Being a General Manager in the NHL
Davidson also talked about the responsibilities that come with the role of a general manager in the NHL.
As you can guess, it's not as easy as it looks, especially in Chicago, where many controversies have happened in the last few years.
"These jobs aren't easy. You're responsible for so many people. Whether it's that (Perry) event or something very different with Kevin (Korchinski, whose father died) and his family, you feel everything because you care about your players and your staff, and you care about their families."
"When something happens and it's positive, you feel that in a great way. When it's negative, you feel that in a really negative way. You carry a lot of the ups and downs of the group in your everyday job."
We don't often see a manager being this honest with the press, and fans will surely appreciate it.
