Bruins commentator Jack Edwards likely finished in Boston
Jack Edwards, the Bruins' commentator, has made headlines a few times in his career for controversial comments, recently towards Pat Maroon, where he was forced to apologize.
However, ask any Bruins fan, and you'll find out that he's a beloved figure in the fanbase.
With the pre-season games underway, broadcast teams are getting ready for the season, and during yesterday's game between the Bruins and the Rangers, fans noticed something major.
Is Bruins' Commentator Jack Edwards Done in Boston?
A new voice might describe the Bruins' games this season.
Alex Faust filled in for Jack Edwards yesterday:
"Update: Jack Edwards is not on the mic tonight for NESN. Planned absence. Alex Faust, formerly of NU and LAK broadcast booth, is on the call with Melrose's own, Andy Brickley."
Faust has been the play-by-play voice for the Los Angeles Kings since 2017, but the organization decided to not renew his contract this summer.
Will Alex Faust Replace Jack Edwards as Commentator for the Bruins?
Even if it's a planned absence, some are wondering if Faust could take over the job.
"It's been 30 seconds, and I'm all in on Alex Faust as PxP for the Bruins replacing Jack Edwards."
"Alex Faust should replace Jack Edwards on Bruins telecasts."
"Hopefully the next voice of the #nhlbruins.
@alex_faust"
Fortunately for everyone who wants Faust to get the job, Jimmy Murphy, a renowned reporter covering the Bruins, believes Faust might be more than just a fill-in.
"He might become much more than a fill-in, from what I am told."
Nothing official has been announced yet, but with the season set to start in three weeks, we can expect a statement from all parties concerned if it happens. We'll keep you updated.
