Solution to the Leafs' Blue Line

The defensive unit in Toronto wasn't good enough last year during the playoffs, even with the addition of John Klingberg.

According to a recent report, the solution to their problems may already be within the organization.

His name? Timothy Liljegren.

The Savior?

Liljegren wasn't dressed for the playoffs for two consecutive seasons.

However, when he's on the ice, the Leafs are winning. With Liljegren in action, at 5v5, the Leafs recorded 107 goals and allowed 73, which represents a 59% goals-for rating, placing him among the elite of the NHL.

Unfortunately, Liljegren isn't a big scorer and doesn't really play on special units.

Last season, he scored 18 points in 62 games with the Leafs.

He has the potential to be a top-four defenseman on a good team. At almost 25 years old, he'll need to prove himself quickly if he wants to become a star in the NHL.
