Zach Parise has had a long and tenured career in the NHL. Some concerning news has arisen, though, regarding Parise's potential future in the NHL.

Parise's Future

A recent report has emerged that Parise is not planning on attending training camp with the New York Islanders, as reported by Arthur Staple of the Athletic.

Lou Lamoriello says Zach Parise will not come to camp with the #Isles. Did not rule out something later in the season but says Parise is home in Minnesota.

Parise's future as an NHLer was in the air after the Isles season finished last year, with many teammates unsure of whether the veteran forward would return. This new development highly suggests he will not be playing again in the NHL.

Parise's Career

Parise has had a storied career, playing for the Devils, Wild, and now Islanders over the course of 18 NHL seasons. Parise has played a total of 1224 games over the course of his career, recording 429 goals and 450 assists. Last season, Parise had 21 goals and 13 assists in 82 games played.

It's always sad to see a storied veteran potentially at the end of their career. While this is not a retirement announcement per se, it seems to be pointing pretty clearly in that direction.
