With the Senators being so close to the salary cap limit it might force them to trade one of the bright young players.

Shane Pinto Getting Traded?

Shane Pinto is currently a restricted free agent, the 22-year-old center just played his first full season in the NHL collecting 20 goals and 35 points in 82 games this season.

There have been rumblings that the Sens would be willing to trade Pinto for the right price according to a source. The Boston Bruins have come to light as the favorites to acquire Pinto.

«Ottawa wants to make the playoffs, but they're up against the cap, so we're talking high-end prospects that could crack the roster this season,» the source told BHN. «That's probably Fabian Lysell and Johnny Beecher.»

Although the Bruin would have to pay a big price to get their new top center man it might be worth it.

As for the Sens they might just have to trade him in order to be cap compliant.

Sens Roster for the Upcoming Season

The Senators have joined the discussion for one of the best top sixes in the NHL despite trading away Alex DeBrincat, but the emergence of Stuetzle makes this team that much more deadly.

According to projections the Sens top 6 will look something like this:

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Tarasenko
Girouz - Norris - Batherson

The Sens team has been patient with their prospects and their devolpment and it has payed off as that top line might be one of the best lines next season.

However with Pinto looking like he might get traded, the Sens would need a new 3rd line center.
