Kings Went After Saros
Per Elliotte Friedman, the LA Kings inquired with the Nashville Predators concerning a trade for star goaltender Juuse Saros.
I do think Los Angeles made an exploratory call to Nashville about Juuse Saros. The Predators look rejuvenated post-deadline — some youthful energy helps — and, surprisingly, have a path to the playoffs. Big challenge, but playoff chases are what everyone wants.
Saros hasn't been a Vezina candidate on paper, but he is among the league leaders in GSAx, the best metric to find the most valuable goaltenders.
The Kings opted to acquire Joonas Korpisalo from the Columbus Blue Jackets instead, but imagine how they could have looked with Saros between the pipes.
Could Saros have been the difference between a first-round exit and a deep playoff run with their aging core? We'll find out in a few weeks.
