On Thursday, two Original Six teams met, and unsurprisingly, Bruins captain Brad Marchand was in the headlines again, this time for his questionable trip on Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren.

A questionable play

The move forced Liljegren out of the game, and now he's reportedly injured going forward, and unsurprisingly, this led to many Maple Leafs fans calling for the NHL's Department of Player Safety to get involved.

However, it has now passed 5pm ET the following day, with the NHL not fining or calling Marchand for a hearing, so it appears as though cooler heads have prevailed and he will not be dealing with any of that.

The play wasn't an ideal one, but many former players have simply attributed it to two players battling for a puck, and despite the protests from Leafs fans on social media, this is likely the smart decision from all parties involved.
