Marc-Andre Fleury becomes visibly emotional after playoff loss to Dallas

The Minnesota Wild stood by Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, knowing the criticism the franchise would face prioritizing him as the team's Goalie for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs first round against Dallas.

Minnesota picked Fleury as the starter, despite a dominant performance by youngster Filip Gustavsson in game 1, having 51 saves in a 3-2 win in Double OT.

It was an understandable decision, Gustavsson likely would have been tired following the long match, and Fleury, a three-time Stanley Cup winner, has no shortage of playoff experience. However, this decision did not go in Minnesota's favor.

The Wild lost 7-3 in Game 2, letting Dallas even the series at 1-1. Fleury allowed all 7 shots in the game, the most goals given up by Minnesota in a playoff game, according to Michael Russo of The Athletic.

Fleury, upset at his own performance, said that he felt it was his job to win and that he felt the loss "pissed (him) off".

Wild Head Coach Dean Evason defended the decision to start Fleury, noting the team's insistence on having a rotational setup between Fleury & Gustavsson, allowing for both to take starting reins.

It's unknown if the equal duties will continue after this, but Evason has defended his choice.

Wild Forward Mats Zuccarello came to the defense of Fleury, saying the Goalie had "no help" from the rest of the team.

Fleury, a legend of the game, has had his highs and lows, but had one of his costliest games. While no one is blaming Fleury outright, fans are clearly hoping the team is willing to make a change.
