Leafs Top Prospect Terminates Contract in Russia to Come to Toronto

The Maple Leafs struck gold in the fifth round in 2020 when they drafted Dmitri Ovchinikov. The Russian winger has now terminated his contract in Russia.

Ovchinikov to Join Marlies



Dmitri Ovchinikov was a risk in the fifth round due to his size. He has exceeded expectations, and now in his D+3 season, he will likely be in North America to stay.

Dmitry Ovchinnikov terminated agreement with Sibir and flew away to Canada to fitful his 3-year contract with Maple Leafs organisation

Not producing much in the KHL, it must be remembered how undersized young players are used in that league. Expect his production to explode from his current 13 points in 68 games.
