After a decade away from the NHL, a former Toronto Maple Leafs winger has now made his return as he looks to land a roster spot ahead of the 2023-24 NHL season.

A veteran winger

Back in 2014-15, Brandon Kozun made his NHL debut in Toronto, but would wind up playing just 20 games with the team, tallying 2 goals and 2 assists over that time.

Unfortunately, he never made it back to the league, and has spent the last eight seasons overseas, with his best years coming in the KHL when he tallied a career high 56 points in 59 games played on 23 goals back in the 2016-17 season.

A comeback is on

Now, the 33-year old is looking to finally make his mark in the NHL, as he has signed a PTO with the Colorado Avalanche, who are in need of offensive depth ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Over the past five years, he's been a consistent offensive force, and with openings on the Avalanche bottom-six, he's got the chance to make a roster spot almost a decade after making his NHL debut, and while he never quite panned out in Toronto, Maple Leafs fans should be pulling for the veteran forward.
