Former Leafs Enforcer Colton Orr Returns to Toronto as a Coach

Former Leafs Enforcer Colton Orr Returns to Toronto as a Coach

BY WADE MESSIER
Colton Orr was once a feared opponent among players in the NHL, who made his biggest impact with his fists rather than skill. Orr never put up impressive point totals, as his highest scoring season was 4 goals and 2 assists through 82 games in the 2009-10 season with Toronto. That same season he earned his career high in penalty minutes, earning himself 239 minutes in the box. Orr hung up the skates after a 10 game stint in the AHL in the 2015-16, but it appears he's made the return to professional hockey.

Orr Makes His Return to Toronto as a Coach

This weekend Orr will take on the Toronto Six from behind the bench of the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation. Orr is in his fourth year of coaching the Whale, and his first test for their playoff run this year will be a best of three games series against the Six.

Clearly Orr's squad has embraced a different style of play from their coaches own when he was in the NHL, as the team finished the regular season in third place, just behind the Six. If Connecticut can best Toronto in this first series, they will have a much closer shot at the Isobel Cup.

We wish the best of luck to Orr and his players this weekend.
