The Arizona Coyotes are facing a major stepback in their plans for their move to Tempe that furthers puts questions on the franchise.

Coyotes Future in Peril

The City of Phoenix have announced a lawsuit has been filed against the City of Tempe over the proposed arena.

According to 12News Arizona, the City of Phoenix's lawsuit pertains to the location of the arena, which the city argues is in the proximity of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, an alleged breach of contract between the two cities to reduce noise within Phoenix, the goal being to protect residents from the overbearing of loudness increased traffic to the nearby City of Tempe would bring.


Both sides are continuing to reach an agreement on the proposed plan without impacting the terms laid out by Phoenix officials. Both sides have been in negotiations over the project specifics, including the airport, and look to work further on solidifying a correct course of action.

The Coyotes were not named in the lawsuit, as well as no members of the team or ownership. The team is slated to move to the Tempe arena in the next few years, with a vote for the agreement of the arena to be held for public voters on May 16th.
